For The Guys

Freshly Brewed Projects Blog Hop Banner

Hello and welcome to another Freshly Brewed Blog Hop with the Latte Girls. This week we’re looking at projects ‘For The Guys’ as in Australia it’s Fathers’ Day soon.

Make sure you visit the other blogs in the hop this week:

Now Stampin’ Up! have so many products suitable for making ‘For The Guys’ projects with and today I have made a card and a box to place something special in – could be movie pass; gift card; coffee card; socks (if you have to) etc. Here’s the card using one of my favourite stamp sets – High Tide:

High Tide Dad

I’ve used the Wood Textures DSP stack for the background on this card to give that white washed type look. I’ve run out of Burlap Trim (oh no!!) so you have a sneak peek of some new Jute Twine which will be available from 1st September in the new Holiday Catalogue. I’ve just teamed 2 pieces together and tied a knot, then adhered it with Glue Dots. Here’s a closer view of the embellished area:

I think it gives the card that nautical look and it’s sure to please a special person in your life for Fathers’ Day or birthday.

Now I continued with the Wood Textures DSP when I made this self-closing box (which I have made before):

Self-closing Box

It’s quite an easy box to make. Here’s the template:

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Cut card to 8 1/2″ x 6″ or 21.3cm x 15cm
  • Score at 1″ and 5: or 2.5 and 12.5cm and turn 90° and score at 2″; 4″; 6″ and 8″ or 5cm; 10cm; 15cm and 20cm
  • Use a scoring tool to score as per diagram, cutting along solid lines and scoring and burnishing dotted lines
  • Cut DSP as follows – 2 at 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ and 2 at 3 3/4″ x 3/4″ or 2 at 14.1cm x 14.1cm and 2 at 14.1cm x 1.9cm
  • Mark the centre of one edge of the DSP square and cut diagonally to each corner from the centre giving you 1 large triangle and 2 smaller ones. Repeat with other square and adhere triangles (be careful if you are using patterned paper which is directional).
  • Adhere 2 top strips along the top of the front and back of the box
  • Use adhesive to glue the tab to the inside of the box, then adhere the base by closing 2 opposite sides and placing adhesive on the other two sides
  • Wrap Jute twin around the top and add tag
  • Note: I made the tag using the Lots of Labels Framelits and attached with Linen Thread. I had a small piece of DSP left over which I adhered to the back of the tag before cutting.

Here’s another view of the box:

Now, just a reminder to check out the inspiration on the other blogs today.
