Holiday Friday

As promised, I will bring you a holiday project each Friday for the remainder of 2017. So Holiday Friday this week is a card my class attendees will be making tomorrow in class. It uses the Carols Of Christmas Bundle.

Carols_Of_Christmas

So here’s today’s card and it is Christmas themed for my first Holiday Friday post:

This one is fairly easy but does require some scoring which can be done either with your Stampin’ Trimmer (give the cutting mat 1/4 turn so the surface is flat for scoring) or the Stampin’ Up! Simply Scored. Add the pearls where ever you like but I like an odd number as it seems to give a balanced look.

Now to get the centre bit above I stamped the sentiment on Tranquil Tide and then used the Cherry Cobbler from the Regals Stampin’ Write Marker set and just coloured the ‘THE’ and the lines and stamped on some scrap Very Vanilla I’ve used the Layering Circle Framelits dies too.

This image is also included in the stamp set and I’ve used the Cherry Cobbler and Tranquil Tide Stampin’ Write markers to colour and then stamp. I’ve also ink distressed the card insert with Cherry Cobbler ink.

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you come back again soon to see what else I have to share.

Remember, your creativeness is only limited by your imagination. Keep smiling and until next we share…

Today I’m bringing you another technique. This one is quite easy and is called Faux Tearing. It gives the impression of torn layers on your card but in fact you only have one layer.

Faux Tearing

So, I decided to make some Christmas Cards with this technique and you’ll be surprised at how easy it is and how the technique adds depth to your card. Here’s my sample card:

Faux Tearing

See those hills in the background? Does it look like I have a layer of torn paper behind those trees? See how to achieve this:

Wasn’t that easy? I hope you enjoyed the other tips I shared with you today. I’d love you to subscribe to my channel – just click the banner below:  You_Tube_Subscription

Thank you so much for your support, I really appreciate you subscribing to my channel.

I decorated the inside of the card and the outside of the envelope with one of the other stamps in the set and used Smoky Slate and Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Markers from the Neutrals and Regals Stampin’ Write Marker sets.

Faux Tearing 2

Stampin’ Up! envelopes are beautiful quality for your hand made cards all for the cost of a regular postage stamp. You should consider buying some. Just try them, I’m sure you’ll be happy with them.

MEASUREMENTS:

  • Card base is 14.8cm x 21cm scored and folded at 10.5cm or 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scred and folded at 4 1/4″
  • Layer 1(Night of Navy) is 14.3cm x 10cm or 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Layer 1 (Shimmery Whisper White) is 13.8cm x 9.5cm or 5″ x 3 3/4″
  • Card insert is 13.5cm x 9.5cm or 5″ x 3 3/4″

Here’s the finished card I made during the Video (both cards have the same insert):

Faux Tearing 1

Make sure you try this Faux Tearing technique. You’ll have fun plus add depth and interest to your card fronts without the layers.

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you come back again soon to see what else I have to share.

Remember, your creativeness is only limited by your imagination. Keep smiling and until next we share…

Freshly Brewed Projects Blog Hop Banner

Welcome to another Wednesday Freshly Brewed Blog Hop with the Latte Girls. This week we’re looking at Condolence – Sorry – Comfort projects. I find these types of projects difficult to make if I’m personally affected by an event. So here’s a tip: Make some of these cards at a time when you don’t need them. Check out the cards on the Stampin’ Up! Pinterest Board for ideas or use the ones from this week’s blog hop. Store them away and you will have a little stash when needed for a particular occasion or event.

Condolence

Condolence

A very simple card but I think it fits the occasion. What do you think? I’ve used Work of Art for the background and stamped in Soft Sky, Bermuda Bay (stamped off) and lastly Island Indigo. The card has a layer of Bermuda Bay behind the card front and some gorgeous Bermuda Bay 3/8″ Mini Chevron Ribbon.

Condolence 2

I don’t often stamp sentiments on the inside of cards, however this time I thought I would. Both the front and inside sentiments come from Thoughts & Prayers, which is a beautiful stamp set for Condolence; Sorry; Comfort  or even Thinking of You projects. If you only want to use part of a sentiment, just colour that part with Stampin’ Write Markers.

Make sure you visit all the blogs in the hop this week:

Today’s Video is on Painted Harvest Tips. Now this is a beautiful stamp set available in the Holiday Catalogue and is just right for now in Australia as all the Sunflowers start to bloom.

Painted Harvest Tips

Painted Harvest Tips

This is the first card I made for today’s video using Painted Harvest. It is done on Very Vanilla, then Cajun Craze which is adhered to the card base with Foam Adhesive Strips. Like my Bow? It’s Stampin’ Up!’s Linen Thread. Just love Linen Thread as it’s so versatile.

Now I show you in the video how to stamp the insert for the card and the outside of the envelope at the same time. It’s just one of the tips I give you in this video. Here’s what the insert and envelope look like:

Painted Harvest Tips 1

Now here’s the card I ended up making from the sample I stamped in the Video:
Painted Harvest Tips 2
I decided on some Basic Black 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon and tied a simple knot, then stamped the sentiment in Basic Black Archival Ink. The card is adhered to a Cherry Cobbler Base. I’ve used Foam Adhesive Strips to adhere this to the card base.
MEASUREMENTS:
  • Card base is 21cm x 14.8cm scored and folded at 10.5cm or 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored and folded at 4 1/4″
  • Layer 1 is 14.3cm x 10cm or 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Layer 2 is 13.8cm x 9.5cm or 5″ x 3 3/4″
  • Linen Thread was tied with a knot around the entire layer. Where as the Basic Black 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon was tied in a loose knot and adhered with Glue Dots (for positioning) to the front of the card. I then used Tear & Tape Adhesive on the back so I just cut a short length enough to do the job.

My post is a little later today as I did two posts yesterday. Here’s a Painted Harvest Easy treat bag for you to make for your FREE download today. Now, remember this is just an idea and you could use it with any Designer Series Paper (DSP) and stamp set. Take the idea and make it your own in a short while. It makes a lovely ‘little’ gift for a friend or colleague.

Painted Harvest Easy

Painted_Harvest

This is a wonderfully versatile stamp set and bundled with the leaf punch you save 10% on the price if you purchased each separately.

Painted_Harvest1

How long have you wanted a leaf punch? This one has two stamps which co-ordinate with it – plain leaf or the stem and veins or combine the two for a full effect. How good is that? Here’s the punch:

Leaf_Punch

So, all in all a great bundle to have. I’ve used the bundle several times already and have plans for more projects plus free downloads for you.

Painted_Harvest_Bundle

Now, back to the card which is probably what you want.

I’ve used the beautiful Painted Autumn DSP again on this project. Now even though it says ‘Autumn’ in the name of this DSP, it certainly fits with and Australian summer with all the shades of burnt orange, brown earth and beautiful lush greenery. I’ve combined it with Early Espresso, Very Vanilla and Garden Green card. In addition to those colours I’ve added some Burlap Ribbon and Crushed Curry Mini Chevron Ribbon. The inks are Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Garden Green and Early Espresso. Here’s the treat bag again:

Do you know someone who needs a gift but you don’t know what to give them? What better gift than some Stampin’ Up! hand-made cards beautifully gift boxed? Here’s a closer look at the ribbon and embellishment piece:

Carols_Of_Christmas_7

You can find all the supplies for this project on pages 12 and 13 of the NEW Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalogue. Just love these embellishments and set the tag off with some Rhinestones and it looks great. That ribbon, you ask? It’s wired ribbon and is wonderful to work with. Oh and I forgot to tell you about the new Every Day Label Punch which I used for the tag.

ESAD meaning

Now, you may have noticed some cards in the box? I’m making 4 cards for the box but will share just one of them today, as you’ve already gone into overload because of the box. Yes?

Are You Starting Your Christmas Cards yet?

Here’s one of the cards:

Carols_Of_Christmas_3

This card uses the Carols of Christmas Bundle. Did you know, if you buy bundles you actually save 10% on the overall price if you purchased each product separately? I’ve added some of the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper for the background. Stamped the sentiment from Carols of Christmas and layered it up. Here’s a closer look at the tree and deer:

Carols_Of_Christmas_4

Isn’t that deer just the cutest? There’s a die in the Card Front Builder Thinlits Dies. So, no fussy cutting. The tree may be stamped or just die cut from card stock as I have done. I’ve added some Liquid Multipurpose Glue, then sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds on it and allowed it to dry before placing it in the envelope:

I had a little bit of DSP left over so used it for the insert which has been ink distressed with Old Olive on a sponge. The envelope front received the same DSP and stamped deer. You can’t have boring envelopes and this one lets the recipient know it’s for Christmas.

Stampin’ Up! Concept Artist’s Card.

Concept_Artist1

Years ago, I may have already shared this story before, I received a hand stamped card from a friend who was a Demonstrator with Stampin’ Up!.  I said to my husband “I wonder what it would be like to get paid just to stamp cards all day”.  He gave me a puzzled look and said: “that’s what you do!”   I thought for a minute and went “yes it is”.

I love my job and what could be better than getting paid to stamp.

Concept_Artist2

These little pizza boxes in the Holiday Catalogue are just too cute and I can’t wait to start decorating some, my mind is running wild with ideas.  So many ideas and so little time.

If you have placed an order with me in the last year you should have received a Holiday Catalogue in the mail.  Be sure and let me know if you didn’t.

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you come back again soon to see what else I have to share.

I have a video for you today which looks at a Background Technique which is quick and easy and takes few supplies.

Background Technique

Rubber_Band_Ink_Pad_Bright_Wishes

Yes, the front of the card is Watercolor Paper stamped with Basic Grey Archival Ink and they coloured using Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo and Old Olive ink pads and a Blender Pen.  However, I want you to look at the background, behind the Well piece. Don’t recognise the stamp? That because it’s not a stamp but rubber bands. This is a great technique which is quick and easy and takes few supplies. Watch the video to see how to do it.

Now I do apologise for the colour and distance of the video. I’m in a new house with a totally different set up. Please be patient while I work it out. Thank you for your support, I do appreciate it.

Holiday Catalogue Sneak Peek

Now, make sure you visit the other blogs in the hop:

Now the Holiday Catalogue goes live on Friday, 1st September 2017 and you will just love all the beautiful NEW and CURRENT products featured. It was really difficult to select a product to use as a Holiday Catalogue Sneak Peek. Today I was inspired by this photo:

sunflowers_australia

Aren’t they gorgeous? A hybrid version of the original sunflower. They’re called ‘Prado Red’ and grow to 1.5-2m and have single-flowered, claret red, dark eye features.

So here’s my card:

Red_Painted_Harvest

Yes, I fussy cut the Sunflowers but not the leaf as there is a NEW Leaf Punch and if you buy the bundle of the Painted Harvest Photopolymer Stamp Set (13 stamps) and the Leaf Punch as a Bundle you get a 10% discount. Are you able to spot what else I used which is NEW? It’s the Painted Harvest Designer Series Paper which I have distressed using my scissors. I’ve also used the NEW Jute Twine. Here’s a closer look at the embellishment piece:

The tag is punched using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch. I have used Clear Wink of Stella on the flowers to give them a bit of glimmer and shine (it’s a bit difficult to see in the photo). This also seems to deepen the colour.

Now make sure you pop back on Sunday evening (6pm Australian EST) for the ESAD Blog Hop which will also be sharing projects using products from the NEW Holiday Catalogue.
