Rustic Country Livin’

Rustic Country Livin’ I decided I had shared lots of feminine cards recently so thought I’d do a masculine themed one instead today. This stamp set and technique could be used for any occasion for a man. You can leave it fairly plain or embellish it with more papers, Linen Thread, Baker’s Twine etc. I love this stamp set for cards as it’s quite versatile. The guitar image in the set is great for the music buffs and the boots can be used for dancing of any type and can be done up in any colour you like.

The sentiment comes from a NEW stamp set which will be available in the 2017 – 2018 Annual Catalogue and it’s called Birthday Greetings. It’s a great set suitable for many age groups, so when it’s available consider ordering it.

Stampin’ Up!’s Watercolor Pencils are fantastic for giving the same image many different looks. With this truck I have used Real Red as often you see old farm trucks which were once red. If you colour lightly and randomly you can create an image which looks a bit tattered and worn. Add Early Espresso on the back to make it look like a home made piece to hold all the farm gear in on the back and you’re starting to get the idea of a well used truck. I’ve used a Blender Pen with all colours.

Colours used:

  • Truck Body – Real Red
  • Back tray – Early Espresso
  • Tyres & shadows – Basic Black
  • Headliughts – Daffodil Delight
  • Chrome bits – Pumpkin Pie
  • Grass – Old Olive

Sponge Dauber Colouring Dies

Sponge Dauber Colouring Dies This is a fun technique which will add depth and great effect to your cards and is just another way to use your dies. Watch the video to find out more:

My apologies if there was an annoying sound in the background. When I shot this video it was an extremely hot day and I had a fan going without realising the video would pick up the sound. Anyway I hope you enjoyed the video and were able to see and hear the instructions clearly enough for you to give this technique a try.
Now this suite is on the Retirement List and is available until 31st May 2017 or while stocks last. If you click on Retirement List, there is a link which will take you straight to the products being retired and you can shop. There’s also a huge number of discounted products in the Clearance Rack, so make sure you check those out, too while you’re there.
Here’s a closer look at the card:
You can see where I have used the Sponge Daubers to colour the thinlit die. Try this technique with other dies. You’ll be amazed at the possibilities.

WWYS #115 Beautiful You

WWYS #115 Beautiful You I absolutely love this stamp set and I’m so pleased the What Will You Stamp team have decided to choose this set for their challenge.

Make sure you pop on over to see all the inspiration shared by the design team and of course the other entries in the challenge for WWYS #115 Beautiful You. Here’s my card:

Now, I have been a bit remiss and not sent my friend who is battling Ovarian Cancer, a card for over  a week and I know she’s battling with the chemo and all the side effects it entails, so this card is for her. I couldn’t do a brightly coloured hat, which she wears, so did the next best thing with some paper piecing using Cupcakes & Carousels DSP stack .

Here’s a bit of a closer look at the stamping and paper piecing. I just love all the different techniques and effects you can get by using this stamp set. I’ve stamped one of the ‘wash’ images in Peekaboo Peach and added the sentiment in Basic Black Archival ink.

Paper Piecing Technique Used

Paper piecing is a great technique to use with all your little scraps of card or D.S.P., so keep it in mind as a technique. Make sure you use your Snips and move the paper not your snip for easier cutting.

I also used the Cupcakes & Carousels DSP paper to decorate inside the card and I banner cut a piece for the outside of the envelope. After all, you can’t have a boring inside card and envelope when you’re trying to cheer someone up.

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you come back again soon to see what else I have to share.

Erasing Part of a Stamped Image

Erasing Part of a Stamped Image. This video will show you how to ink up a stamped image and erase part of the colour using a Blender Pen and replacing the erased colour with another colour. You could do this on almost any card but it works best on Watercolor Paper of Shimmery White Card. Watch how easy it is.

Don’t miss any more of my technique videos
Thanks so much for supporting me by subscribing.
Next week I will be doing a series on the So In Love Suite from the Occasions Catalogue. It’s in the retirement list but is a must have for those who make lots of invitations of all types.
So did you like that technique? It’s something a little different you can try. You could also use it on Watercolor Paper.
You can certainly see the difference in the image in this close up view of it. Try this technique on normal card stock, just be careful not to overwork the card as it may start to break down and pill. You could stamp an image and then stamp again and die cut and mount on Stampin’ Dimensionals for added effect. This technique would work really well if you wanted to add yellows, reds or oranges to the centres of flowers.
Have a try of it and I’d love to see your samples.

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you come back again soon to see what else I have to share.

Banner Cut Card Front

Banner Cut Card Front This card features a banner cut on the front with some colouring with inks and a blender pen. It was part of my technique class this month making cards using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (S.A.M.J. for short). This tool is very under utilised and using it really means you don’t need to spend a heap of money on alternative systems. Here’s the completed card:

We stamped the image in Basic Black Archival Ink before using a Blender Pen and Old Olive and Crushed Curry Inks to add some colour tot he image. The background is made by using one of the image stamps from the set and doing tone on tone with Old Olive.

We used the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to stamp the sentiment and frame piece which was adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Freshly Brewed Retiring Papers

Freshly Brewed Retiring Papers. Welcome to another Freshly Brewed Blog Hop with the Latte Girls. Today we’re focusing on Designer Series Papers which will retire on 31st May 2017.

I just love this 6″ x 6″ DSP Stack. It has been so versatile. I’ve used it for Scrapbook Pages, 3D projects as well as card. Here I have used 2 different pieces on the front of the card and if you turn the spotted one over you get the bunting which I hand cut. Here’s a closer look at the sentiment piece:

I die cut Peekaboo Peach using the Layering Circle Framelits Dies and the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies – they nest nicely together.

I built this whole piece up on Stampin’ Dimensionals starting at the bottom. The sentiment is a combination of two stamp sets with the Birthday being hand cut and the other piece punched out using the Duet Banner Punch and it comes from the stamp set included in the ‘Oh Happy Day’ kit.

Now, don’t forget to visit the other blogs in the hop:

Stamped Image with Blender Pen Technique Video

Stamped Image with Blender Pen Technique Video This is a fun little technique which is easy to do. I don’t have a finished card to show you but you can see the sample further on in the post.

Don’t miss another of my technique videos
Thanks for subscribing. I appreciate your support
This easy technique just requires some Watercolor Paper or you could use Shimmery White too. If you used normal card stock, just be careful to not overwork the card as it will start to ‘pill’.

Try this technique with an image and framelit die. Stamp the image on your card. Then stamp on Watercolor Paper or Shimmery White card stock and colour with Blender Pen. Die cut the image and mount it on Stampin’ Dimensionals, add a sentiment to your card front and you’re done. You could use the same technique with leaves and do the same – stamp on card, then stamp again and use Blender Pen , die cut and mount on Stampin’ Dimensionals. .

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you come back again soon to see what else I have to share.

Christmas with S.A.M.J.

Christmas with S.A.M.J. Last Saturday I held my monthly Technique Class which revolved around using Stampin’ Up!’s Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (S.A.M.J. for short). The ladies thoroughly enjoyed themselves as we commenced our Christmas Cards for the year with this favourite using Father Christmas

So Christmas with S.A.M.J. was achieved by stamping one of the border pieces from the stamp set, then using the S.A.M.J. to place Father Christmas and the other border piece. The border pieces are stamped in Crumb Cake whilst Father Christmas is stamped in Basic Gray Archival Ink. I feel it gives a softer image when stamping for water colouring or blending.

We used Watercolor Pencils to colour Father Christmas and a Blender Pen to blend the colour.  We sued old Olive ink to stamp the holly branch image on the inside of the card and the outside of the envelope and coloured the berries with a Real Red Stampin’ Write marker from the Brights Stampin’ Write Marker set.

Next month’s class will be held on June 10th at 1pm and will focus on Watercolor Pencil Techniques. Contact me if you’re interested in attending.

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you come back again soon to see what else I have to share.

You can use this technique with any image stamp. You could do it as part of a card front or as a feature and hand cut the image to add to your card. It’s a very adaptable technique.
