WWYS #108 // Dragonfly Dreams

Time for another challenge post and this week I’m participating in What Will You Stamp’s Challenge #108 using the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set.

I just love this set. It’s so versatile and who doesn’t like Dragonflies?  Now, I’ve tried a new technique today called Reinker Rainbow and I’ll have a video on how to do it tomorrow. I’ve used one of the pieces I made for a background for today’s card.

The Dragonfly is cut in Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper and then I used the Precision Base Plate to die cut the Dragonfly in Basic Black. I found the Fine Tip Glue Pen was great when adhering Glimmer Paper to other card or paper. The Dragonfly was added to the rainbow piece with a Stampin’ Dimensional.

The reinker rainbow piece of Shimmery White was adhered to some Basic Black with just a fine margin around and that whole layer was added to the Whisper White with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I used  Smoky Slate ink to stamp the spot image from the stamp set on Whisper White and Melon Mambo for the sentiment. The Bee is stamped in Basic Black Archival ink and I’ve used Daffodil Delight from the Watercolor Pencils and the Clear Wink of Stella to colour it.

Laying Down Colour – Blender Pen Technique

This is a technique I did a Video for, for my Watercolor Bundle Virtual Class. It’s a really easy technique to do but quite effective. Using the technique, you can actually make your own colours using Stampin’ Up!’s Watercolor Pencils. So, it’s fun to mix the colours just to see what alternatives you can come up with. Having some Grid Paper under your work definitely helps too.

I also drew a faux frame using the Basic Gray from the Neutrals Stampin’ Write Markers and the Watercolor Pencils and of course my Blender Pen. The flower was hand cut, after colouring and then added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back before adhering it to the card front.

I hope you like my card and would be interested to read your comments.

This week the Latte Girls have a fun Colour Challenge for you.

Colour Challenge

Aren’t these colours just gorgeous together? I added some Whisper White card and that was all I needed to create today’s card. I’ve also used Avant Garden which is a FREE product from Sale-A-Bration when you purchase A$90.

Using Stampin’ Write Markers to colour your stamps before stamping is a great technique to use when you want different parts of your image in different colours. Another fun technique is that of ‘stamping off’ which can be done until your image runs out of ink and gives you various tones of the same colour. I’ve used both these techniques on this card

I’ve trimmed the card stock for the layers a bit smaller than normal so I could slope them in different directions which also adds interest to the card. My last addition was the Sweet Sugarplum Ruched Ribbon.

Make sure you hop on by Leonie and Narelle’s blogs to see their inspiration for this colour challenge. I know it will be awesome. While visiting their blogs, don’t forget to leave a comment.

Dragonfly Water Colour Wash

What do you think of my Dragonfly Water Colour Wash card?  I’ve used the Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper and laid down a wash of So Saffron. I then cam in and coloured with an Aqua Painter and used Cucumber Crush; Peekaboo Peach; Calypso Coral and Early Espresso. I coloured the  bee with Daffodil delight from the Watercolor Pencils.

The Dragonfly is cut using Copper Foil and then I needed a sentiment. So, I went to Lift Me Up and stamped the sentiment and then die cut it with the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. What do you think?

  • Cut 2″ or 5 cm deep at the 2″ or 5 cm score line and at the 4″ or 10 cm score line and repeat on opposite sides

Happy Shopper or Kit Napper?

Which one are you?

It’s okay to be a “kit napper” if you just want the deal BUT I hope that you will stay and enjoy the discount on your favourite Stampin’ Up! Products. No pressure 🙂
For $169 you can get up to $414 plus free shipping – this includes your 2 free stamp sets. This is only available until 31st March.

Contact me for more information, to ask questions, to request a catalogue.
No experience or creativity required – trust me I know because I didn’t have either when I began!

I don’t want to Demonstrate – can I just purchase my own products or do I have to hold parties or have a blog to join Stampin’ Up! ?

  • You know the ‘Demonstrator’ title is such a tricky one – I kind of wish it was called something else really. Please don’t be put off by that Demonstrator title. YOU can totally decide the way you want to do things – be your own best customer and just buy products for yourself.  Have a few friends over, for a cuppa and stamp, who occasionally buy a few things from you, be a Party Person and have an amazing business opportunity or be Online and have a blog, Facebook business page – It’s TOTALLY your decision.
  • I have a team full of all sorts of lovely people running their Stampin’ Up! journey as a hobby or a business. I welcome everyone. You’re the boss – and I love that about Stampin’ Up!

How much is the Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator Starter Kit? What’s in it?

  • The Stampin’ Up! Starter kit is just $169 and by ordering it via me HERE you also become one of my Krafty Owlz Team and join the fun of an instant stamping family. As a hobby or a business, I love, support and value all my beautiful ‘Krafty Owlz’.
  • While the kit is just $169 it has a retail value of $235 worth of products and $80 worth of Business Supplies – that’s $146 of FREE product and supplies. PLUS 2 FREE EXTRA STAMP SETS during sale-A-Bration
  • What do you get in your Starter kit? That’s the best part – you can select ANY current Stampin’ Up! products – it’s totally your choice – and that includes Sneak Peak Products!!
  • Free postage and handling on your Starter Kit.

Are there quarterly sales requirements and what are actual dates?

  • To remain an active Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and continue to receive the 20% discount on your purchases you are required to purchase or sell $440 Retail Australian a quarter… of course if these purchases are for yourself – you get the 20% Demonstrator discount applied straight away so as a Demonstrator you’ll never really pay that full $440 retail.
  • The Stampin’ Up! year is broken up into 4 quarters. These are: January 1st – March 31st, April 1st – June 30th, July 1st – September 30th, October 1st to December 31st.

What if I join part way through a quarter?

  • You have 1 FULL quarter to achieve your first quarterly minimum. So even if you join 1 day into a new quarter, you still receive all of that remaining quarter PLUS the next full quarter to achieve your first quarterly minimums.

I love those Host Rewards – do I still get those if I’m a Demonstrator?

  • This is the bit I love– As a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator you still qualify for Host Rewards when you place a qualifying order of $250 or more!! That’s in addition to getting 20% discount off your Stampin’ Up! Products. Total win/win.

I know I can get 20% discount on my purchases – but how do I earn money by selling Stampin’ Up!?

  • While there is no obligation to sell or hold workshops as a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator, you do have the potential to earn an income so it’s worth knowing how.
  • When you sell a product to a customer instead of earning 20% discount you earn a 20% commission on that sale. The Demonstrator website works it all out for you and it’s a really easy computer system to get your head around.
  • In addition to the instant 20% income for all Demonstrators,  there is the ability to earn rebates from Stampin’ Up! based on monthly sales AND increase your instant income to 25% along the way.
  • And if you have a team, there’s extra earning potential there too.
  • Demonstrators also have a Flex Rewards Program that allow points accrued by selling, recruiting and leading to be redeemed for products, catalogues and even a yearly incentive trip to 5 star resorts and cruises.

I might like to make this a business in the future, perhaps I’d like to hold parties, have an online business like you Libby or make and sell my own cards – can you give me advice?

  • Yes, I can. I offer exclusive support and advice to all the Demonstrators that join Stampin’ Up! with me. We can make a plan together whenever you’re ready.

I’m not local to you Libby – is that OK?

  • I have Demonstrators in my team from all over Australia. We’re a friendly bunch and have a wonderful Facebook Forum where we share our latest creations and get to exchange ideas and inspiration.
  • I’m here to support you in your goals as much or as little as you need me. I’m here online most days, on our Facebook Forum, via phone, email.
  • We have monthly card classes in the Virtual Classroom,  and lots, lots more.

Do you hold any events I can attend in person?

  • Yes! Everyone in my team is invited to our quarterly meetings, and we can get together for one on one training sessions as well.
  • Stampin’ Up! also have fantastic events called Onstage – amazing for seeing new products, getting to socialise with other crafty folk and get great tips and ideas. You’ll always find me at one of these events.

So what’s the catch?

  • That was my exact thoughts when I first found Stampin’ Up! – but there really isn’t one (believe me I looked). There are no Annual fees and no penalty fees if you decide it’s not for you and you don’t have to give anything back if you don’t continue.

I’d like to read the terms and conditions before I sign up.

  • Of course you should always read the fine print before you sign up for anything. Have a look HERE.

Suggestion only

Thank you for stopping by today and I hope you come back again soon to see what else I have to share.
