More Shimmer (Video)

Today I have some more techniques to share using Shimmer Paint. I share 3 more techniques which I demonstrate in my video in More Shimmer.

For this card:

  • Stamp images on the card background – So Saffron, Crushed Curry & Soft Suede stamped off used for the flower and Old Olive for the leaves
  • Fill in the spaces by using a Sponge Dauber and Shimmer Paint
  • Use the Sponge Dauber on the flower centres as well

More Shimmer Card Basics

  • Cut card to 14.9 cm x 21 cm or 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
  • Score and fold at 10.5 cm or 4 1/4″
  • Cut layer 1to 14.4 m x 10 cm or 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Cut layer 2 to 13.9 cm x 9.5 cm or 5″ x 3 3/4″
  • Stamp images where desired
  • Adhere the top 2 layers together with Multipurpose Liquid Glue
  • Adhere Burlap Ribbon around these layers and adhere to the card base
  • Make a Multiloop bow and add where desired on Burlap Ribbon with a Glue Dot
  • Cut a card insert to 13.5 cm v 9.5 cm or 5″ x 3 3/4″
  • Stamp the sunflower image on the envelope and the card insert at the same time, then adhere the card insert inside the card with Multipurpose Liquid Glue

  • Use a fine tip paint brush which is dry
  • Use only a small amount of Shimmer Paint. You can always add more
  • Use this technique for Christmas or Winter cards

On this card, my brush was too wide so I couldn’t get fine detail so make sure you use a fine tip, dry brush for this technique.

Try other colours. I’ve used Frost White on Shaded Spruce which is stamped on Crumb Cake. Try adding some Champagne Mist if you stamp ion Whisper White or Shimmery White or even some Bright Copper or Vegas Gold would work well on both the Crumb Cake and the two white cardstocks.

  • Cut card to 14.9 cm x 21 cm or 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
  • Score and fold at 10.5 cm or 4 1/4″
  • Cut top layer to 14.4 cm x 10 cm or 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Stamp images, then use a dry, fine tip brush and just a tiny bit of Shimmer Paint to put some ‘snow’ or ‘glimmer’ on the branches and the ground too if you desire
  • Wrap the Striped Burlap Trim around the card adhering it with Tear & Tape Adhesive
  • Adhere to the front of the card with Multipurpose Liquid Glue
  • Cut a card insert to 13.5 cm x 9.5 cm or 5″ x 3 3/4″
  • Stamp on both the card insert and the envelope at the same time
  • Adhere the card insert into the card
