Stylish Blog Award

24/01/2011
My good friend and upline, Leonie Schroder bestowed this award on me. Receiving awards like this always make me feel special and that what I share online is appreciated by so many. Thanks so much Leonie for the award and for your friendship. Pop on over and view Leonie’s Blog.
Now as part of this award I need to share 8 things about myself and to pass this award onto 8 bloggers and let them know they too have been awarded with this very prestigious award.
Now … 8 things about me
  1. I love spending time with my family and my friends – both in person and online
  2. I love sharing what I do in my crafts and I especially love Stampin’ Up!
  3. I took my Stampin’ Up! stuff away with me on holidays – 1 full trolly and everything else stashed in various places so DH didn’t realise how much of it I was taking with me 🙂 (Well I have to do something when he’s out fishing all the time)
  4. Everyone knows my favourite colour is blue except my DH who thinks it’s purple!! We’ve only been married 31 years and now he refers to blue as my other favourite colour when it’s not purple 🙂
  5. 1 of my arms got sunburnt while we were away – that happens when you sit under an umbrella engrossed in a book and you don’t realise one half of you is in the shade and the other half isn’t.
  6. I always come home from holidays with ‘tide’ marks – my tan stops and starts where my sleeves finish and short/trousers finish. Except this year I wore caprice length pants which almost come to my ancles as I’m vertically challenged. I have tied marks on my feet from my sandals 🙂
  7. I love ribbon and I firmly believe a girl can never have too much ribbon
  8. I still like my job after 36 years when I thought I wouldn’t last 5 years 🙂
Now to pass it onto 8 bloggers. I always find this hard as there are so many out there who deserve these awards. Anyway here goes:
  1. Wendy Pettifer who now resides in Tennant Creek Northern Territory
  2. Sharon Rogers – new to blogging but check out her amazing cards
  3. Rose-Anne Monk – who is always coming up with new and imaginative ideas
  4. Carol Johnson – just became a design team member of Send A Smile For Kids
  5. Illina Crouse – who shares freely her wonderful creations
  6. Lee Conrey – who also shares her creations freely and has some neat tools to help you tie bows and stand cards up at demos
  7. Michelle Jamieson – who is working hard to assist those affected by the terrible floods in Queensland – you go girl!! See if you can help Chelle achieve her goals to assist these people.
  8. Gypsy – from New Zealand who is always an inspiration and has great scrapbook techniques and ideas she freely shares.
Please take the time to peruse these blogs. I’m sure you will agree they are all worthy recipients of this award.

MANHATTAN FLOWER AND SO HAPPY FOR YOU

23/01/2011

Recipe:
Stamp Set: So Happy For You (Sale-A-Bration stamp set)
Big Shot and Manhattan Flower Textured Impression folder
Classic Stampin’ Pad: Regal Rose
Card: Whisper White
Ribbon: Whisper White Grosgrain
Basic Rhinestones
I made this for a friend’s birthday. I gave her some beautiful rose scented soap in a white bag with rose red ribbon (to go with the colour of the rose soap).
I didn’t have my brayer with me so just inked up the Manhattan Flower folder directly onto the folder with the ink pad. I also needed to be able to put a sentiment on it, hence I added a strip of Whisper White card. It still looked a bit plain so I added the butterfly and the rhinestones to ‘bling’ it up a bit.
When I place the ribbon on the card I actually cut a small slit in the fold of the base card and feed the ribbon through to the inside of the card. I usually stick a white insert into the cards I make and stick it to the side that has the ends of the ribbon on it thus hiding the ends of the ribbon.
Thanks for stopping by and please leave a comment if you have time.

SO HAPPY FOR YOU

23/01/2011
This is the make and take card we did today at my demonstration. It uses one of the free sets from Sale-a-bration. Got to love free 🙂
Recipe:
  • Card: Pink Pirouette; Certainly Celery; So Saffron; Whisper White
  • Stamp set: So Happy For You (a Sale-A-Bration stamp set)
  • Ribbon: Mistletoe Ribbon Originals
  • Big Shot and Finial Press Textured Impressions folder
  • Classic Stampin’ Pad: Regal Rose; So Saffron
  • Basic Rhinestones

Sale-A-Bration
25 January to 31 March, 2011
Spend A$100 (not including postage & handling) during this time period and choose one of the Sale-A-Bration stamp sets absolutely free. Contact me today to put in your order and choose your free stamp set.
This was my very first demonstration as an Independent Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrator. It was at my sister’s place with my nieces and friends. It was a fun afternoon.
Method:
  • On the So Saffron card stamp 3 hearts equidistant apart and using So Saffron ink.
  • Stamp the sentiment on Whisper White using the Regal Rose ink.
  • Use the same ink and stamp the 5 petal flower on a scrap of Whisper White.
  • Cut the flowers out.
  • Use 1 dimensional and cut it into ¼ s – use 3 of these to mount the flowers on the Whisper White card above the sentiment.
  • Place 1 rhinestone in the centre of each flower.
  • Tie the Mistletoe Ribbon Originals around the Whisper White card.
  • Mount the Whisper White card onto the Certainly Celery card ensuring you centre it.
  • Mount the stamped So Saffron card on the top and the bottom of the Whisper White Card
  • Use the Big Shot and the Textured Impressions folder to give the Certainly Celery card some dry embossed texture
  • Mount all on card base.
Tips:

1.      When cutting out stamped images ensure you move the card and not the scissors
2.      When tying a knot in your ribbon, take the 2 ends and tie a reef knot (left over right and under then right over left and under).Hold the ends of the ribbon long the length of the ribbon and pull. Work out where you want to place the knot on your card and snip the ribbon and then adhere where you want on your card.

Easter Card

06/01/2011
One of the groups I’m on has an Easter Challenge card at present. We all make a card and upload it to the group photos and then at the end of the month 1 person is chosen at random to win all the cards posted. It’s a fun challenge to be in and you get to see lots of great ideas.
I’ve used some retired card stock here. Most supplies are Stampin’ Up!
Recipe:
Well Scripted stamp set
Classic Stampin’ Ink – Soft Suede
Card – Washington Apple (retired) ; Neutrals Ivory and Basic Black
Punches – 1 1/4″ circle, Butterfly, Boho Blossom, Ornament
Spellbinders Nestabilities – Labels 1
The ears and the feet are punched from the Butterfly punch (with a bit of trimming for the ears). The body was punched using the ornament punch and the tail is the Boho Blossom punch.
Thanks for stopping by

Classic Stampin’ Pads – Regal Rose and Basic Black
Stamp Sets – Well Scripted and Punched Posies
Ribbon – Basic Black Grosgrain
Adhesive
Dimensionals
All products are Stampin’ Up!
I hope you like this card. Please feel free to leave me a comment

Tri-Fold Card

05/01/2011
I made this card for a swap. We needed to make a card with a different fold. This card is a Tri-fold (don’t know why as there’s only 2 folds :))
As we’re heading into February which has Valentine’s Day, I thought I’d make a card along the theme of Valentine. However, I’ve made it as a ‘friend’ card.
Above is the view of the card closed.
This view is of the card when it’s open. You can see there is still plenty of room to write a greeting or note.
Recipe:
Card – Basic Black; Whisper White; Cherry Cobbler
Stamp Sets – I {Heart} Hearts and Pocket Silhouettes
Adhesive
Dimensionals
Scissors & trimmer
Black ribbon
All products are Stampin’ Up!
Don’t forget the Sweet Treats Promotion – click on the top left blinkie for details
If you would like to purchase any of the products used or any other Stampin’ Up! products, please contact me.
Pop back tomorrow to see a variation of this card.

Every Moment

03/01/2011
This is a very versatile stamp set called : Every Moment. You can find this set on page 72 of the current Idea Book and Catalogue. The wood mount (121508) is A$31.95 and the clear mount (120522) A$25.95 for the set of 4 stamps.
Contact me if you would like to purchase this set or any other Stampin’ Up!® products (Australian residents only)
 Recipe:
All products are Stampin’ Up!®
Every Moment stamp set
Card – Whisper White; Baja Breeze; Old Olive and some Water Color Paper
Classic Stampin’ Pads – Old Olive
Stampn’ Write Markers – Daffodil Delight
Marina Mist
Old Olive
Aqua brush
Punches – Circle & Scallop Edge
Ribbon – Mistletoe
Adhesive
Dimensionals
Notes:
The grass is done by using the scallop border punch across it’s length once. Then go back but this time try and centre the valley of the pattern in the centre of the mountain of the pattern. (I hope that makes sense.) By doing that you get the grass effect.
The flower is hand cut and the stem slid under the grass and a dimensional placed underneath the flower to make it ‘pop’.

Dasher for Christmas

03/01/2011
One of the groups I’m on has a Christmas Card Swap each month – it’s a great way to build your card stash ready for next Christmas and it also gives you a variety of ideas to try. We make one card to swap and a different one to share through the group photos.
So here are my efforts – both similar but varied.
This one is an ordinary portrait type card. I’ve wrapped the ribbon under the mat to hide the ends.
This is the second card. I may add a sentiment in the lower right corner – it needs something.
 Recipe:
Whisper White Card
Jolly Holiday DSP
Real Red card
Top Note Die
Big Shot
Early Espresso Classic Ink
Dasher stamp
Dimensionals
Adhesive
real Red Ribbon
Rhinestones

I hope you like these cards. Thanks as always for stopping by and I’d love to read your comments.
