Welcome to another Stamping Techniques 101 Blog Hop. Today we’re looking at Stampin’ Blends Techniques 101 and I’m sure you’ll be inspired with what we have for you.
Stampin’ Blends Techniques 101:
Stampin’ Blends are artist-quality alcohol markers in 12 exclusive Stampin’ Up! colours.
STAMPIN’ BLENDS FEATURES
- Add just the right amount of colour where you need it with the brush tip or fine-point.
- Each colour (except Ivory and Bronze) has a light and dark shade marker, available individually or in a combo pack.
- We have done in-house testing for evaporation and life testing and are really happy with the results, so you can feel confident sharing them with your customers.
- Press fit seal prevents air from entering the barrel and causing evaporation.
- The nestable lids are easy to keep track of and have a tight fit for long-lasting colour.
Here’s the Stampin’ Up! Video all about them
What’s the fuss?
- Not only are they easy to use, they make you feel like a real artist!
- Add just the right amount of colour where you need it with the brush tip or fine-point.
- Each colour (except Ivory and Bronze) has a light and dark shade marker, available individually or in a combo pack.
- If you love colouring or even if you are just wanting to get started with colouring, I’m sure you are going to love these markers as much as I do! (Don’t forget you’ll need to use Memento ink with the new markers).
- They give stunning results.
Here’s the inside of my card for Stampin’ Blends Techniques 101. I left the inside of my card uncoloured so the recipient can colour it. The envelope is stamped using a flower from Birthday Blooms and coloured with Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends.
How to use them tips:
-
- Put down a layer of colour using the brush tip and the lightest colour
- Try not to colour right to the edge as you need to leave some light areas to give proper lighting effects and as they are alcohol markers, they may bleed a bit though your stamping
- Go in with the darker of the shades and use the fine tip to create some shadows or darker areas
- Then go back with the light and blend the dark and light together, so the line created when you added the dark, disappears
- You can give a little extra layer of light on light
- Now go back to the edge which you didn’t colour before, and add a layer of light. So now the rest of the flowers has 2 or 3 layers of colour and the very edge of the image only has 1 layer of colour
- You can use the Bronze to just add a few dots of colour in the shadows and then use the light colour to come back and feather over the Bronze.
- Use the Color Lifter to create more shades in your colouring and to blend
What can you colour with them?
- Stampin’ Up! recommend Thick Whisper White Card
- Colour images on envelopes (be careful you don’t add too much colour or it will bleed through the envelope)
- Glossy Accents
- Pearls
- Rhinestones
- Ribbon – 1 colour or make it Ombré using the light and dark and blending in the centre
- Faceted Gems
- Timber
- Book covers
- Black and white Designer Series Paper such as Just Add Color and Petal Passion
- Images using Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp them
